Processing Parameters

Processing Item Typical Range Remarks & Instructions
Drying Treatment Critical. PPA is highly hygroscopic. Sufficient drying before processing is mandatory, otherwise bubbles, silver streaks, surface defects and degraded mechanical properties may occur. Desiccant dryer is strongly recommended.
Drying Temperature 100‑120 ℃
Drying Time 4‑6 h Ensure moisture content ≤0.05%(500 ppm) or lower.
Barrel Temperature Adjust according to melting characteristics and mold structure. Semi‑aromatic polyamides feature high melting point.
Rear zone (feed zone) 300‑320 ℃
Middle zone (compression zone) 310‑330 ℃
Front zone (metering zone) 320‑340 ℃
Nozzle Temperature 320‑340 ℃
Melt Temperature 320‑340 ℃ Avoid excessive melt temperature and long residence time to prevent material degradation.
Mold Temperature 120‑140 ℃ Higher mold temperature improves crystallinity, surface gloss and mechanical performance, and reduces internal stress.
Injection Pressure 80‑120 MPa Use the lowest feasible injection pressure for full filling and good surface quality.
Injection Speed Medium‑high Moderately fast injection facilitates filling; avoid excessive speed causing shear overheating or surface defects.
Screw Speed 50‑100 rpm Medium speed; excessive shear will break glass fibers and degrade polymer.
Back Pressure 0.5‑1.0 MPa Low back pressure for melt homogeneity. Excess back pressure aggravates glass‑fiber breakage.
