HDPE Qatar Chemical HHM5502BN
HDPE Qatar Chemical HHM5502BN Resin
Material Introduction: HDPE Qatar Chemical HHM5502BN is a high‑density polyethylene. With outstanding environmental stress‑cracking resistance, good rigidity and balanced mechanical properties, it is widely used for blow‑molded hollow containers. Supplied in pellet form, it possesses favorable rigidity, special processing performance and excellent environmental stress‑cracking resistance. It complies with FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 standard for food‑contact packaging applications.
Main Applications
Various packaging containers: household & chemical containers, food‑contact containers, pharmaceutical containers, bleach and detergent bottles.
Other blow‑molded products: freezer inner liners.
Performance Parameters
| Performance Category | Test Item | Test Method / Condition | Value & Unit | Remarks & Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Properties | Density | ASTM D‑1505 | 0.955 g/cm³ | HDPE grade with high hardness and good rigidity. |
| Melt Flow Rate (MFR) | ASTM D‑1238 (190°C/2.16 kg) | 0.35 g/10min | Low MFR delivers high melt strength, well‑suited for blow‑molding to maintain parison geometry. | |
| High‑Load Melt Index (HLMI) | ASTM D‑1238 (190°C/21.6 kg) | 33 g/10min | Flow property under high‑load condition. | |
| Mechanical Properties | Tensile Yield Strength | ASTM D‑638 (50 mm/min) | 27 MPa | Resistance against tensile deformation. |
| Elongation at Break | ASTM D‑638 (50 mm/min) | >600 % | Superb toughness and ductility; withstand heavy deformation without fracture. | |
| Flexural Modulus | ASTM D‑790 | 1370 MPa | Indicator of rigidity; higher value represents better bending‑deformation resistance. | |
| Shore D Hardness | ASTM D‑2240 | 63 | Provides certain surface scratch‑resistance. | |
| Environmental Stress‑Cracking Resistance (ESCR) | Condition A, F50, 100% Igepal, ASTM D‑1693 | 45 h | Excellent ESCR, critical for chemical and detergent containers. | |
| Environmental Stress‑Cracking Resistance (ESCR) | Condition B, F50, 100% Igepal, ASTM D‑1693 | 35 h | Same interpretation as above. | |
| Thermal Properties | Brittleness Temperature | ASTM D‑746 | <‑75 °C | Excellent low‑temperature toughness under extreme cold conditions. |
Blow‑Molding Processing
For hollow blow‑molding, temperature, pressure and other parameters shall be optimized according to equipment, container volume and performance requirements.
‑ Parison temperature range:171‑204°C ‑ Extrusion melt temperature range:194‑216°C ‑ Mold temperature: affects surface gloss and crystallinity; reasonable cooling temperature shall be maintained. ‑ Parison control: low melt index (0.35 g/10min) provides good melt strength to avoid parison sagging.
Processing Notes
- Melt strength: Low MFR delivers good melt strength and stabilizes parison profile during blow‑molding.
- ESCR performance: 45 h (Condition A) / 35 h (Condition B) ESCR enables resistance to stress cracking upon chemical exposure, ideal for chemical and detergent packaging.
- Shrinkage: HDPE has relatively large directional shrinkage which may cause warpage. Maintain stable mold temperature and uniform cooling.
