Extrusion Process Parameters

Process Parameter Reference Range / Recommendation Remarks & Descriptions
Drying Treatment 75°C for 1‑2 hours Although PS has low moisture absorption (<0.05 %), drying is recommended when recycled materials are used, under high‑humidity environment or abnormal storage conditions.
Barrel Temperature 190‑230°C (refer to GP‑5500) Rear zone: 195°C, Middle zone: 210°C, Front zone: 220°C (refer to GP‑5500)
Melt Processing Temperature Polystyrene has a broad melting‑temperature range and good thermal stability; it turns into molten state at approx. 190 °C.
Mold / Die Temperature 20‑70°C Higher temperature helps improve product surface quality.
Screw Design Screw with L/D ≥ 25:1 is recommended Suitable for extrusion molding to ensure uniform plasticization.
