Injection Molding Parameters

Process Parameter Reference Range / Recommendation Remarks & Descriptions
Drying Treatment Normally unnecessary; dry at 70‑80°C for 2‑3 hours under improper storage conditions HIPS has low moisture absorption and generally does not require drying. Drying is recommended in high‑humidity environments or under improper storage conditions.
Barrel Temperature 190‑240°C Higher injection and molding temperatures are preferred due to rubber‑modified composition.
Mold Temperature 40‑60°C Higher mold temperature helps reduce internal stress.
Injection Pressure Medium‑to‑high Sufficient holding pressure, holding time and cooling time are required.
Injection Speed Medium speed Avoid excessive speed which may cause molding defects.
Back Pressure 0.5‑1.0 MPa Appropriate back pressure facilitates melt homogenization.
Screw Speed Medium (e.g. 50‑100 rpm) Avoid excessive screw speed to prevent shear overheating.
