POE Dow‑DuPont 8440

POE Dow‑DuPont 8440

POE Dow‑DuPont 8440 is an ethylene‑octene copolymer featured with excellent toughness, good processability, aging resistance, low‑temperature resistance and favorable compatibility with polyolefins.

Main Applications

Mainly used for modification and toughening of PP (polypropylene), PE (polyethylene) and PA (nylon). For instance, it is applied to manufacture components such as bumpers, fenders and steering wheels in the automotive industry.

In the wire‑and‑cable industry, it can be used for insulation layers and sheaths with high requirements for heat resistance and environmental resistance.

It is also adopted for industrial articles (e.g. rubber hoses, conveyor belts), home appliances, sporting goods, toys and other products.

Processing Methods

Suitable for multiple processing methods including extrusion and injection molding.

Drying Treatment: Drying may be required if the package is damaged and the material is exposed to air. Refer to the official technical data sheet for specific drying parameters (temperature and duration), as such information is not specified herein.

Injection Molding: Grade 8440 is categorized as injection‑molding grade. Its melting temperature is around 93°C; the processing temperature shall be significantly higher for sufficient plasticization.

Extrusion: Grade 8440 is also applicable to extrusion processes, such as wire‑and‑cable sheaths and profiles.

Blending Modification: For blending with base resins such as PP and PE, pre‑blending of POE and base resin is recommended to achieve uniform dispersion.
