PBT FLAME‑RETARDANT MODIFICATION
Neat PBT only achieves UL94 HB flame‑retardant rating and tends to drip upon combustion. Flame‑retardant additives are mandatory to reach UL94 V‑0 level. Traditionally, halogen‑based flame retardants such as bromides and antimony trioxide (Sb₂O₃) were adopted. Driven by environmental‑protection trends, halogen‑free flame‑retardant PBT is gaining momentum. Phosphorus‑based flame retardants are mainly used in synergy with nitrogen‑containing compounds. Upon combustion, phosphoric anhydride is generated to dehydrate and carbonize combustibles and form a protective char layer.
Main Uses Widely applied in electrical‑electronic products with strict fire‑safety requirements, including relays, connectors, cooling fans, sockets, TV components, coil bobbins, switches and energy‑saving lamp bases.
