Anti‑oxidants and UV absorbers can be compounded to improve PE weather‑resistance. A more effective technical route is to chemically bond light stabilizers onto polymer chains. Light‑stabilizing agents with reactive groups react with carbon‑centered free radicals generated during PE processing, capture free radicals and enhance polymer stability, thus introducing permanent weather‑resistant moieties into PE resin.

Anti‑aging modified‑PE is widely adopted for outdoor‑exposed articles, including agricultural films, outdoor building materials, artificial turf, automotive accessories, cable sheaths and outdoor furniture for long‑term solar‑radiation service.
