Food‑Grade Modified PS Plastic

For food‑grade PS resin pellets, there shall be no peculiar odor or foreign impurities. Heavy‑metal contents such as lead, cadmium and mercury must be kept at extremely low levels to prevent health risks to consumers caused by substance migration into food. National standards impose strict limits on toxic residual monomers. For example, residual styrene monomer in food‑grade polystyrene resin shall be ≤0.15 % (1500 mg/kg). The US FDA (21 CFR 177.1640) also specifies corresponding upper limits for total residual styrene monomer based on different food‑contact scenarios.

Main Applications

Transparent Food Packaging: Manufacture of transparent food containers including fruit‑vegetable trays and pastry boxes, disposable beverage cups, and containers for lactic‑acid‑bacteria drinks such as Yakult.

Dairy & Food Packaging: Bottles for milk, yogurt and other dairy products, as well as disposable food containers, plates and bowls thermoformed from HIPS sheets.

Household Appliances & Kitchen Utensils (food‑contact components): Widely used for inner liners of refrigerators and freezers, retaining good toughness under low‑temperature conditions while in direct contact with stored food. Certain household food‑storage containers and dish racks are also made of food‑grade PS.
