Characteristics of modified‑PHA: PHB is the most common member within the PHA family. It is rigid and brittle with a narrow processing window, as its degradation temperature is close to its melting point. Modification is mainly achieved by copolymerization with other hydroxy‑fatty‑acid monomers. For instance, PHBV (copolymer of hydroxybutyrate and hydroxyvalerate) reduces crystallinity and hardness, greatly improves impact resistance and optimizes processability.
Main Applications
Benefiting from excellent biocompatibility and gas‑barrier performance, modified‑PHA is applied in biomedical materials (implantable materials for human body, drug sustained‑release carriers), high‑performance packaging materials, non‑woven fabrics and other products.
