Type Working Principle & Structural Features Core Advantages Main Limitations Typical Application
Belt Conveyor Endless belt (PVC, PU, rubber, etc.) serves as load‑bearing and traction component. Smooth operation, low noise, wide material adaptability from bulk goods to finished products; supports inclined conveying. Poor high‑temperature resistance; not suitable for sharp heavy items. Electronic assembly, food packaging, express sorting, injection‑molded part transfer.
Roller Conveyor Consists of series of rollers; conveys flat‑bottom goods via roller rotation. High load capacity, simple structure, high reliability, easy to build complex logistics systems, supports accumulation function. Requires flat item bottom; not for small bulk materials. Cartons, pallets, totes, heavy workpieces, post‑packaging conveyance.
Chain Conveyor Chains act as traction parts, fitted with chain plates, mesh belts, hangers and other carrying surfaces. Extremely high load capacity, high‑temperature resistance, diverse forms; enables horizontal, vertical and spatial curved conveyance. Relatively low speed, higher noise, requires lubrication & maintenance. Chain‑plate for beverage filling; mesh‑chain for drying; overhead chain for spraying lines.
Mesh Belt Conveyor Metal or plastic mesh belt as conveying medium. Good air permeability, heat‑resistant, easy to clean; supports in‑line drying, cooling and washing processes. High cost; regular mesh hole cleaning required. Food baking, heat treatment, parts cleaning, electronics reflow soldering.

Key Technical Parameters

Conveying Capacity (kg/h or pcs/h): Material throughput per unit time, primary index for model selection.

Conveying Speed (m/min): Determines production efficiency. 0.1‑10 m/min for general assembly lines; higher for logistics sorting.

Conveying Length & Width (mm): Width shall be slightly larger than material dimension (e.g. material size +50 mm); length customized per process layout.

Main Component Dimensions: Roller diameter (38‑200 mm), chain plate width (63.5‑304.8 mm), chain pitch, etc.

Motor Power (kW): Calculated by throughput, length and lifting height, ranging from 0.55 kW to hundreds of kW.

Material & Surface Treatment: Support frame (powder‑coated carbon steel / stainless steel / aluminum profile); conveyor belt (PVC/PE/PU/rubber/metal); roller (galvanized carbon steel / stainless steel / coated roller). Directly affect durability and sanitation level.

Structural & Functional Features

Modular & Flexible: Modern conveyors adopt modular design. Straight, curve, inclined and telescopic units can be freely combined for easy reconfiguration and expansion.

Speed Regulation & Control: Equipped with frequency conversion, stepless or electronic speed control. Integratable with PLC and sensors for automatic operation.

Multi‑function Integration: Can incorporate workbenches, lighting, tooling plates, barcode scanners, vision inspection and robots to form complete production stations.

Special Function Options: ‑ Accumulation function: Roller conveyor allows goods to accumulate and wait. ‑ Incline & curve: Belt conveyor with baffles for steep‑angle conveying; roller / chain‑plate conveyor for 90° /180° turning. ‑ Self‑moving & telescopic: Mining conveyors move with working face; telescopic conveyors change length for loading & unloading. ‑ Sanitation & Safety: Food/pharma‑grade conveyors use stainless steel and open‑style structure for easy cleaning. All units shall be fitted with emergency stops, safety guards and belt deviation switches.

Selection Guidelines

‑ Determine type by material property: Bulk materials for belt / bucket elevator; regular boxes for roller conveyor; special‑shaped parts for chain‑plate conveyor; process‑required goods for mesh‑belt conveyor. ‑ Determine specs by conveying requirement: Confirm width, length, speed and power according to production capacity. ‑ Determine material by working environment: Stainless steel for humid / food‑grade environment; powder‑coated carbon steel for general conditions; aluminum profile for clean‑room. ‑ Determine functions by process demand: Confirm need for speed adjustment, accumulation, incline climbing, integrated stations or automatic control. ‑ Determine layout by site space: Measure on‑site dimensions and select straight, curved, telescopic or overhead layout.
